seraglia (se-ra-lee-a) is an eco couture house that designs and produces hand made jewellery and adornments to order and in very limited editions.

Jewellery tells stories through its design, evoking the times and places in which it was made. From hand-hammered tribal pendants to the extravagance of rhinestone-set fifties brooches, when wearing them, we step into the tale and add our own thread to it.

Working directly from our own designs or with your materials and ideas we create beautiful new narratives, that express your personality.

At seraglia we are collectors and curators, and actively research the design and social history of our antique or vintage pieces. Unless you want it to be our secret, every finished commission is showcased here, along with its story.

Inspired by the decadent globe trotting that exploded during the 19th and the early 20th century, seraglia also represents a return to the romance and attention to detail of the works made during this time. Folk and tribal art and the east-meets-west culture of the seraglios of Byzantium have also been major inspirations.

seraglia has a huge library of vintage part and beads and otherwise unwearable antique pieces, Swarovski beads, semi-precious stones and 'one off' pendants - from which our inspirational alchemy creates lasting heirloom pieces.

Most necklaces fastens with a hook, allowing the length to be altered from chest piece to choker, as desired, or modified in the future. Matching earrings can be made with either vintage-style screw or modern pierced fittings.

seraglia designs in a modular way, with chains or links holding components together, making repairs and modifications easy in the future. Wherever possible we use wired links in place of glue or thread. In addition, most pieces can be worn in multiple ways.

Many precious and semi precious stones are reputed to have healing powers. Many of our pieces contain such stones, and we are always delighted to accept commissions with such a purpose.
