Dame Nellie Melba GBE was an Australian opera soprano who became one of the most famous singers of the late Victorian Era and the early 20th century due to the purity of her lyrical voice and the brilliance of her technique. The Peach Melba was named in her honour and has inspired the colours and textures of this brooch.
Semi-precious and vintage beads combined to inspire love and to charm all around.
A late 1960's intage lucite panelled brooch has been given a vintage rhinestone set filigree centre and interwoven with rose opal glass beads.
The pendant drops are set with cut and faceted beads in gem citrine, carnelian, chalcedony moonstone and rose quartz, vintage and contemporary shell beads, vintage goldtone 'pearl' and aurora borealis glass beads, opal glass and lucite drops, antique mother of pearl beads and a 1940's givre glass Cherry Brand bead from Japan, contemporary matt givre heart and fire polished beads from Czechoslovakia and Swarovski beads and rondelles.
Like all peices in this collection, this may be worn as a brooch, or pin, or added to a ribbon to be worn as a feature necklace. A matching or contrasting ribbon may be added by request.
